What are Kefir

Water Kefirs are electrolytic, enzyme-rich, effervescent, fermented beverages filled with active live cultures to help balance your body’s inner-ecosystem.  They replace your coffee, tea, soda-pop, gatorade and kombucha.  Home-made Kefirs are brewed using a culture of Kefir Grains.  The original grains were discovered by shepherds living in the caucasus mountains thousands of years ago.  The shepherds used this medicine to increase longevity with centurion tribesman consuming kefir daily.

Markets stock German sauerkraut, Korean kimchi, French and Greek yogurt, Japanese miso, Russian kombucha, and Egyptian Kvass.  Some of these foods may be pasteurized rendering the beneficial cultures useless.  They may contain synthetic stabilizers making digestion difficult.  Powdered probiotic starters lack potency and are single use.  Kefir Grains will live forever!

Dairy-free, Vegan Approved

There are two categories of Kefirs.  Dairy Kefirs and Water Kefirs.  Water Kefirs are more versatile and may be infused with flavor and medicinal herbs.  Coconut Water Kefir is a popular brew (See Recipes for more information).

Adopt Kefir

Not all grains are alike!  Water Kefir Grains from are hand-cultured by the tamagachi brothers.  All batches are hand-brewed using locally collected spring water and raw sugar cane from the Island of Mauritius.  Our active live cultures arrive in home-made glass bottles with cork lids.  They are never dormant, dried or frozen!
